The Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship

Deadline: November 1, annually; announced February 1

Amount: Varies; typical awards range from $4,000 to $10,000

Purpose: To support projects pertaining to the archaeology of Portugal. These include, but are not limited to, research projects, colloquia, symposia, publication, and travel for research or to academic meetings for the purpose of presenting papers on the archaeology of Portugal.

Requirements: Portuguese, American, and other international scholars are invited to apply. At the conclusion of the project, recipients must submit a report to the Institute. Recipients are also expected to submit an abstract to the Program Committee within two years in order to be considered for participation in the AIA Annual Meeting.

*As in 2007, members interested in submitting an application to the AIA for this fellowship are invited to present their abstract and proposal outline to the advisory committee for perusal in order to check for grammar and content.  This is a service that our chapter offers to members wanting to apply in order to assist English as a second language speakers and writers in the application process.  It does not assure that pre-applicants will be awarded the grant.  Please send information and contacts to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it by August 1, 2008.
